Mandi was planning on spending her 30th birthday with her daughters Olivia(9) and Cece(1) and her husband, Stephen. Plans changed when doctors discovered a tumor on her spine just days before her birthday. Emergency surgery was scheduled for the following week to prevent paralysis and to determine whether or not the tumor was cancerous.
After originally being told the mass was benign, the patholody was reviewed for a second opinion, and further testing showed malignancy. Mandi has been diagnosed with an extremely rare cancer that has very few treatments, many of which may not be covered by insurance. This specific cancer nearly always falsely presents as benign despite being a highly aggressive cancer.
After their youngest was born in the midst of the pandemic, Mandi became a stay at home mom while Stephen worked as a registered nurse. The mental toll this has inflicted on their family is immeasurable and their one goal is to heal and face this together as a family.
