Experience an afternoon exploring the alluring art of belly dance. Christina Mariae of Safire Belly Dancers will lead an overview of the rich history of belly dance and cover the traditional dance vocabulary. Students will learn a variety of belly dancing techniques and an authentic choreography activating the hips, core, and feminine stage presence. Workshop will also include a special performance from Christina.

Christina is a classically trained dancer in traditional Middle Eastern belly dance with experience in over 200 shows throughout the Chicago-land area. She dedicates 25+ hours each month studying the art of belly dance and movement philosophy with respected teachers in the area and through a personal integrative practice.
On a trip to Egypt in 2007, Christina was mesmerized by an amazing belly dance performance. A few years later, her personal belly dance journey began in the winter of 2011. Intrigued by the movement and music, Christina fell in love with the dance form and has studied all around the world with many beautiful artists including Randa Kamel, Rachel Brice, Irina Akulenko, Asmahan, Anna Borisova, Aida Nour, Mohamed Kazafy, Zoe Jakes, and Luna of Cairo. She loves the arts and has a diverse dance background which includes ballet, jazz, and salsa.
